Butterfly, glowfly and cricket – oh my!

August 8, 2009

Butterfly Cages

Findy decided to surprise me with my own set of summer furnishings, all signed by him – they look so pretty! I haven’t heard the noise the crickets make just yet, but they look wonderful enough. The butterfly one looks so pretty, its a little wasted in my Mog House.. I still haven’t actually had the gil nor the time to make it look very pretty. Though last night I did suck it up and bought a Noble’s Bed, which I’ve wanted for years now. Next step, Royal Bed.

The Sunbreeze Festival!

August 4, 2009

Yes, its Summerfest time and I’ve been a busy little bee. The Yukata wasn’t so bad to get – find Mumor. She’ll be hanging around your home city, putting on a bit of a show. The point? You have to match up your dance moves to hers – make sure you speak with the respective Moogle first.

15 synchronised moves will get you the first Yukata. Go back to the Moogle, and then back to Mumor. 15 more synchronised  moves will score you the HQ Yukata, the female version as modeled by me above. I think the male version looks better to be honest, but… Thats just me.

The swim wear (again, as modeled by me above) can be attained by completing the mini games on hard mode. To play on hard mode, you need to get the Yukata. Following me? Good!

→ Spot the Difference, San d’Oria

This is easy once you know where to look. The scenarios repeat after a while so you get to know where the differences are.. I found it easier on hard mode because they were so fast. To complete hard mode and get your red balloon and Melon Snowcones, you need to spot 9 differences – I got 16. Its that easy!

→ Shooting Gallery, Bastok

Do not. Shoot the Pixies. Thats it! Everything else is fair game, and easy shooting. Its pretty easy – click ‘Wait’ when it comes to the Pixies. Its quicker to do that, than waiting for the targets to change by themselves. You need to get 30 to complete it and get your blue balloon and your M&P Doner Kebabs.

→ Chickabo Catching, Windurst

This one was the one that got me. You have to avoid the Mandragoras, and catch the baby Chocobos. 35 of them, on hard mode. It drove me insane, but.. Aim for the groups and perseviere and you’ll manage it. Your reward is a green balloon and some Cotton Candy.

To get your cute little swimming set, you need to go to the event Moogle. He gives you both parts of the HQ swim set – happy Purgonorgo teleporting! I love Purgonorgo Isle, so it was a must for me.

Go to a Rendezvous Point and call your NPC.. And he/she will decide to be festive too. Until you unequip the swimsuit yourself, that is.

Adventurer Appreciation Campaign 2009

May 12, 2009

Its that time of year again – the last time I did this, I was on Nelle.

10 GM calls! Most of them, are for me falling through the boards in places like Kazham and Windurst. I seem to glitch and fall right through them – I remember, because [GM]Myndon a few years ago said he’d stop the Tarutaru bungee rope sellers stop selling them to me.

They don’t work!

The Feast of Swords draws nigh!

April 24, 2009

The Feast of Swords is almost upon us, and any adventurer worth his or her salt knows what that entails—that heinous band of brigands will once again be upon us in an attempt to snatch the legendary Genji Armor from the hands of its rightful owners!

It is up to you, the stalwart lads and ladies of Vana’diel, to ensure that their dastardly designs will end in vain. Take shinai in hand and vanquish the vermin. You just might win yourself a most rewarding recompense!

  • How to Partake of the Feast

1. Firstly, converse with one of the event moogles stationed in the following locations to procure an ibushi shinai:
Southern San d’Oria (J-9) / Northern San d’Oria (D-8)
Bastok Mines (I-9) / Bastok Markets (G-8)
Windurst Waters (F-5) / Windurst Woods (K-10)

2. Having equipped said ceremonial arm, proceed to have it imbued with a dose of moogle magic by one of the friendly neighborhood M.H.M.U. representatives in the areas below.
West Ronfaure (I-6) / East Ronfaure (G-6) / La Theine Plateau (J-8) / Jugner Forest (I-8) / Batallia Downs (K-8) / North Gustaberg (L-8) / South Gustaberg (L-8) / Konschtat Highlands (I-6) / Pashhow Marshlands (K-6) / Rolanberry Fields (K-5) / West Sarutabaruta (J-8) / East Sarutabaruta (G-11) / Tahrongi Canyon (I-6) / Meriphataud Mountains (E-5) / Sauromugue Champaign (E-5)

3. Join forces with your comrades to seek out the armor-thieving brigands and put an end to their vice and villainy! Word has it that successfully fending off your enemies’ special attacks with your enchanted shinai will reap you considerable rewards…

4. When the battle has been won, trade your shinai to the ??? that has appeared in place of your vanquished foe. You just might be awarded a fabled blade for your feats of valor!

  • Mind The Three Maxims of Moogle Magic

#1: The moogle-magicked hero will be fleet of foot, but feeble of body. (Level will be restricted to 1, but movement speed will be increased in its stead.)
#2: The enchanted blade is to be brandished against brigands alone. (You will not be able to target standard enemies, but neither will they attack you.)
#3: Moogle magic is a fickle mistress, and will abandon you if you venture too far from the fray. (The enchantment will be lifted if you zone into another area or log out.)

  • Event Schedule

The Feast of Swords will come whirling into town on Tuesday, April 28 at 1:00 a.m. (PDT) and return to its sheath Tuesday, May 12 at the same hour.

The Feast of Swords was something I blogged about last year, so doing it this year and on Xandora should be fun. If I get the sword, it means I can run around and look like my NPC!

We’ve been taking it easy for the past few days (also known as slacking I believe). I’ve got NIN to 21 almost, but other than that is just been a farming few days – I did snag some Austere for my SMN, all I want now is the cuffs and thats ready to level, though I’ll managed without them if I can’t get hold of them right away – I’m sat on FFXIAH waiting!

Just for something special today! Yay! 100th post!

Campaigning for buffer!

April 13, 2009

Yep – as the screenshot shows, I spent a good portion of tonight in Campaign battles getting my buffer exp back.  We died getting Esuna – I still have that, and Sacrifice to get hold of.

I’ve spent the best part of 2 hours mulling over which job to take up to 75 next… And I settled on SMN. I said BRD on Twitter, but –  SMN is one I’ve wanted to take up since forever.

I managed to get my Egg Buffet! So did Finny, which is great – for a few days I honestly thought we wouldn’t get it, but after going out and buying most of the eggs, we managed. I’ll take a picture later!

(See? I went into my Mog House which is still under major construction, and took a picture of my giant egg for you.)

Egg Hunt 2009!

April 3, 2009

The three nations are abuzz once more as the pinnacle of all celebrations good and eggly—the Egg Hunt Egg-stravaganza—fast approaches, kupo! This year, as in the past, the Egg Hunt will see that most vital of all adventuring qualities—cooperation—tested to the fullest egg-stent. After all, it is only through uncompromised collaboration that an ad hoc assemblage of adventurers can consolidate weaknesses and overcome ordinarily overwhelming odds. With seamless cooperation in full swing, even the subjugation of legendary beasts of yolk—errr…yore, even—is not out of the question, kupo!

We perpetually bickering moogles are often in awe of the indomitable spirit of cooperation that is the trademark of so many an adventurer, and thus decided to draw inspiration from this as the theme for this year’s prizes for completing “initial egg” combinations. Feast your eyes on following egg-squisite egg-inspired objects, born from the indubitably adroit hands of Kupelcian, San d’Orian master carpenter and pride and joy of all mooglekind, kupo!

“Egg Locker”
Store your dining utensils with class with this gorgeous locker unit crafted from century-old oak and lovingly inlaid with gleaming brass marquetry. For a limited time only, all egg lockers come with a lovely Kshama tea set, kupo!

“Egg Table”
This sturdy, hemispheric table assembled from polished chestnut wood and draped with a handsome cloth of scarlet is right at home even in the manor of the lordliest of lords in the Kingdom, kupo.

“Egg Stool”

Egg-xuding the simple yet refined elegance of wood sourced from a young walnut tree, this low-set stool is upholstered with a velvet-trimmed cushion for your protracted perching pleasure, kupo.

“Egg Lantern”

This egg-shaped lantern wrought in burnished brass shines forth with the rich radiance of a newborn star. Set the ambience of your Mog House aglow with this endearing little number, kupo.

And that rounds up the prize items available at this year’s Egg Hunt event, kupo!
Hm? What happened to the theme of “cooperation” I so meticulously made mention of merely moments ago, you ask?
Well, I was just about to get to that, kupo.
While each item is formidable in its own right, only in union do these furnishings unleash their true potential!

By their powers combined, I give you—ta-da!—the “Egg Buffet”!
A technologically trailblazing egg-shaped buffet table that is the very embodiment of the spirit of cooperation, kupo!

Come event time, we moogles expect you to get rolling—or cracking, whichever is more to your taste—on egg-quiring the entire array of egg items, kupo! Eggspeed you all!

Event Period

The Egg Hunt event is set to begg-in on Thursday, April 9th, 2009 at 1:00 (PDT), and conclude on Monday, April 20th, 2009 at 1:00.

Moogle Locations

For the duration of the festivities, event moogles will appear at the locations listed below. Talk to them for a briefing on how to go about getting the absolute most out of your egg-hunting endeavors.

Southern San d’Oria (J-9) / Northern San d’Oria (D-8)
Bastok Mines (I-9) / Bastok Markets (G-8)
Windurst Waters (north side) (F-5) / Windurst Woods (K-10)

How to Play

1. Collect Initial Eggs!
“Initial eggs” are eggs of avian persuasion that have been inscribed with a single letter of the alphabet. During the Egg Hunt, adventurers can receive a random initial egg from the festival moogles once every Vana’dielian day. Collecting and forming certain combinations of initial eggs will garner you event egg-sclusive prizes. Please note, however, that the letter inscribed on a particular egg will not be revealed to you until you receive it. Trading often with your fellow adventurers is the key to completing that elusive combination!

2. Make a “First 3” Combination!
First of all, try collecting the initial eggs required to make a “First 3” combination. Once you have the eggs you need, trade them to a moogle to receive your prize!

First 3: Collect the first three letters of your character’s name.
For egg-xample, a character with the name of “Moogle” would need to collect one [M], and two [O] initial eggs.

3. Take it to the Next Level!

Initial Straight 8: An egg inscribed with the first letter of your character’s name followed by the next seven letters in the alphabet.
For egg-sample, a character with the name of “Moogle” would need an [M], as well as an [N], [O], [P], [Q], [R], [S], and [T].

7 of a Kind: Seven initial eggs with the same letter.
For egg-sample, you could choose to collect seven [A] initial eggs.

– If you are in a party when speaking with a moogle, it is possible to choose an initial egg inscribed with the first letter of a party member’s name. And if that party member happens to be wearing an egg helm…
– Try trading any type of “egg” to a moogle. Once every Vana’dielian day, you might find that the moogles will gift you with an initial egg in exchange for a “normal” egg.
– Newly created characters must wait at least one Vana’dielian day before they can receive an initial egg. Furthermore, you’ll have to trade in a “First 3” before you can trade in any other combos. Think of it as a sort of preliminary test!
– The moogles are usually egg-stremely reluctant to give out any of their classified information, but maybe if you are persistent enough, one will let you in on a secret or two! Make it a point to talk to them as often as possible!

For those of you who are looking for a real challenge, try egg-sperimenting with different, more egg-citing combinations.

Unleashing Your “Egg Buffet”

Trade an egg locker, egg table, egg stool, and egg lamp to your resident moogle to have it assembled into an egg buffet. Similarly, trading an egg buffet will cause it to revert to the four aforementioned furnishings.

Happy Christmas!

December 25, 2008

Happy Christmas everyone!

I wont be updating till the 26th, which *happens* to be Mithra RSE day… So we’ll see you then! Have a wonderful holiday!

~ Lots of holiday hugs and kisses, Nelle & Rinion

Jingle bells, jingle bells…

December 21, 2008

Where is the Moogle home town? Because Mogbert, my dearest Moogle has gone on a holiday there to watch Papa Moogle in an archery contest.

No lie.

We hit 32 – nearly 33 on Bard and Thief thanks to a fantastic party in the jungles, which we tore through the Mandragora’s and Goblins pretty smoothly, so as soon as I get my kitty paws on some RSE we can get a few more levels! I don’t fancy leveling much higher in my level 23 doublet set…

Well, we managed to get the following items from the christmas event;

  • Dream Hat +1
  • Dream Robe +1
  • Dream Bell +1
  • Dream Boots +1
  • Dream Coffer
  • Dream Stocking
  • Dream Platter

And it was quite a lot of fun! Granted, it took me countless gift-giving runs to get my Dream Coffer, but we managed it in the end. The hardest part was getting the will to retry the gift giving, I must say. The same circuit of San d’Oria is probably worn down after Nelle running around it constantly…

I also made a linkshell for me and Rinion, which is rather aptly named Teddybears.

RSE Hunting » Elvaan Male

December 19, 2008

Currently hitting up Gusgen Mines for Rin’s RSE. Not fun. In the slightest. Though I do like the area with its cute little ghosties and those strange little green will-o-the-wisps… Though they are acting a bit strange, hovering around Rinions head an awful lot..

Our monster hunting list;

  • Sadfly (why are they sad?)
  • Wendigo
  • Jelly
  • Wight
  • Bogy

So far, about 30 mobs killed and not one key. How lame.

I forgot how hard it is to do without a high level with you. On that note, Rin got the urge to reactivate his old character thanks to the Return to Vana’diel campaign, but is doubtful he’ll return to Findecano… Rinion is special to him now. Much like Nelle is to me. Now we have a groove going (and with gil thanks to an old friend who took pity!) we’ll be hitting the high levels in no time at all!

In other news…

The Starlight Celebration will begin at 8:00am on Friday, December 19, 2008 (GMT) and continue until 3:00pm on Wednesday, December 31, 2008 (GMT).

We managed to do a lot of the christmas event, grabbing some of the super event items! We do want the +1 versions of things, so we’ll probably continue card giving/gift giving and box bullying tomorrow. I’ll add screens tomorrow too, since I don’t really want to have Nelle in her happy christmas gear… In Gusgen mines…

Trick or Treat?

October 17, 2008

Huge picture post today;

Our new items – the Eerie Cloak +1, gotten from kicking Pyracmon and his little batty friends’ butt. Talk to the Moogle outside the city of your choice, he/she’ll tell you to go kill some bats. Do so for a short while – me and Rin killed around 15-20. Then, go back to the Moogle and let ’em know your read to take on Pyracmon! Then, of course, go kill him. For the +1, kill Pyracmon twice while still under the same light damage+ effect as before – although this can vary, that worked for us. Rin also got the killing blow, if that helps.

That was a fun event, especially since the bats could get one shotted and everyone was going after them – luckily me and Rinion managed to do pretty well and soon snagged ourselves a few stable belts and the awesome looking cloak.

The Coven Hats were a bit more tricky, since you couldn’t be seen by the witches. Just follow them around after talking to your cities resident witch hunter – don’t let them see you! They kept spotting me… By hardest was the Pitchfork +1. Dressing in a certain costume combination and going under a random decoration? Argh! For the +1, you had to go under the decorations in a different city, but with a matching costume.

There was one, huge, amazing, wonderful plus side to that though…

Anyone who knows me knows that I’m obsessed with Goblins… So this was a big treat for me. I was a very happy kitty.
